Are You Running on Fumes

Okay, I am talking to all of you female Entrepreneurs out there!!

Ever have a week where you are exhausted but you just keep going, too much to be done!! THEN….you get sick or have a migraine or just collapse!!

Sometimes you even keep working while you are sick!!  THIS is NOT a good thing!!  It seems like everywhere you turn, someone is shouting at you about how you can only be successful with hard work & consistency.

While this IS true, to an extent, we sometimes go way TOO far with it!!

I was talking with a fellow female entrepreneur this morning & it just so happens we have both been sick for a couple of weeks now.  We are both trying to build our businesses & we are just starting out. We have been working hard to get all the things done that are required & trying to keep up with social media, etc.

We realized this week that enough is enough!! Our bodies are trying to tell us to slow down a bit!!

When you are working alone as you start up your business, you feel like you don’t really have a choice!!  If you don’t do it, no one will.  BUT, I learned years ago when I was working as a nurse that you have to listen to your body!!  I just forgot that part in all the excitement of the start-up!!

I had a coaching session this morning which I kept, then I took a nap & when I got up, I had decided to just skip the post this week.  BUT…..something kept nagging at me so I sat down at the computer & just sat here.

Then I decided I wanted to share this nugget of truth…..if you don’t take care of yourself & let your body rest when it needs to, you will fail!!

Yes, we have a lot to do & consistency is a key component, but so is SELF-CARE!!

We need to schedule in regular self-care time to just sit outside & read or drink a cup of our favorite tea or take a bubble bath!!  Whatever refuels your batteries, you need to do!!

So, I have met my commitment of one blog post a week & one video on YouTube a week!!  NOW…..I am taking a few days off to recharge & get well!!  I will mostly be unplugged, but will check back occasionally to read your comments!!

  1. Jae, I’m glad you are taking some time to let your body rest! I have to say that I usually make self-care a priority. I break up my day so that I do some work, then take a break to read a chapter of a novel. I then do some work, then have a relaxing lunch. When I’m under a time crunch because I have a big project due, I don’t take breaks, and I get very cranky – or sick! Sometimes getting sick is the body’s way of MAKING you take a break! Good for you for listening to your body 🙂

  2. Thanks, Nina!! I know better than to try to push through & work when I am sick!! I just don’t listen, though!! I need to do what you do & take breaks!! Thanks!!
