Does your train of thought frequently run off the tracks??
I know mine does!!
How do I regain composure & focus, you ask…….
Sometimes I don’t!! I am sure you have all experienced this!! PURE Bird Feathers!! LET IT GO!! NO beating yourself up when this happens, BUT…..you CAN do BETTER next time it happens!! I use what I call my “Brain Sweep List”.
Do that 3 times. Close your eyes for a second. That helps your brain reset its focus.
Take a piece of paper or a small notebook & write down everything that pops into your brain.
If you have time now, fine, otherwise when you have a moment to yourself with no distractions, look at what you have written down.
Put like items together or steps to one problem together then prioritize your list.
If I have been sitting for a while, I get up & walk around the room for a minute & then sit down & look at the list again.
Now that we have your brain swept & dusted, let’s decide what to do with your list:
Is there anything that is urgent? Put that as #1.
Anything that you can comfortably take care of today? Put that as #2.
Anything that can & should be done this week…..#3, and so on.
If one thing keeps popping into your mind, multiple times, then write it as many times as you think it. You can just use hash marks to tic off each time it is there. This should be near the top of your priority list.
For those things that are not priorities or “extra” kind of things, just put them aside for now & I will let you know what to do with them in my next blog!!
Trying to keep too much information in your brain can be detrimental to your health as well.
Often it is called “WORRY”!! Something that is all too prevalent in today’s society. It can cause stress & related health concerns like high blood pressure, heart disease, etc. We all know what a killer stress can be!!
This exercise takes maybe 10 – 15 minutes &can drastically reduce your stress.
Try using my “Brain Sweep List” exercise & see if it doesn’t help get your “train of thought” back on the right track!!
