Are you prepared for Change?? This is the where & the why of being prepared!!

CHANGE is inevitable in our lives.  How prepared we are & how we face CHANGE determines our success, for the most part. Outside factors that are out of our control, of course, factor in as well.

Welcome back to the fifth & final part of this series on being prepared for CHANGE!!

This series has been about YOUR part of the CHANGE equation!!  Understanding the Who, What, When, Where, & Why of CHANGE will help you go from chaos to sanity & success.  I will leave links at the bottom of this post to the other parts of this series in case you missed any of them.

First, let’s look at the “Where” of the equation…

What do you do now??  Do you wait for the perfect (in YOUR mind) opportunity & conditions to present themselves??  How many of us have been unsuccessful because the right time, place, or opportunity just didn’t pop up in our face??

What can we do??  If the opportunity isn’t there, how can we force it to be??

Instead of just sitting around, waiting for the perfect place, time, people, whatever, to present itself, think about where you would feel safe to try out this “change”. Around what people, in what situation, at what time, could you start experimenting with the Change, the new behavior that will lead to a new & improved habit, or new thoughts about a certain subject that will change who you are??

Go to someone you trust & feel safe with that will support you with this change.  Talk to them, explain what change you need to make, ask them to be your accountability partner or to stand with you when you face whatever the change is.

Find, no, make the time to experiment with the change. Create your own opportunity to test it out.

This will help you know how the change will feel, what is the best way to approach it, whether you need other people or things to proceed with the change, etc.

Now, the final “W”, the WHY, is crucial to your success & lasting change!! Without understanding the why, this change, your transformation, will only be fleeting…. if at all!!

“If you can’t figure out your purpose, figure out your passion.  For your passion will lead you right into your purpose.”…. T.D. Jakes

You HAVE to understand the WHY!!  Is this change important to you??  How important?? Are you making this change because you want to improve your life??  Is this a change required by your boss in order for you to keep your job??  Is this a change that will affect the standing in your family, like stopping smoking, cutting down on alcohol consumption, or stopping drug use?? Is it a change you want to make to be a better person, a healthier person, according to YOUR standards??

Without this key component, you will be unable to maintain any lasting change & your motivation will be fleeting, at best.

While, ultimately, you are making this change for YOU, if you are having trouble with motivation, I have a suggestion…. You can always dedicate this change, your effort, to someone you respect or love or to someone who has passed on.

Do you have a personal motivation to make this change??  Being aware of the change, knowing how to make the change, just going through the motions, is NOT enough!!  You need to CHOOSE to make this Change based on your own unique motivation!!

Someone asked me recently, “What is Change Management? What do you do?”

This was my answer:  “Change Management is the coordination of a structured period of transition from situation A to situation B in order to achieve lasting change.  I use a systematic approach & application of knowledge, tools, & resources to deal with that Change & to help women entrepreneurs transition & transform their lives in a positive way that leads to their sanity & success.”

It all boils down to attitude & desire & motivation, & hopefully, the WHO is YOU!!  I think Maya Angelou said it best….

“If you don’t like something, change it.  If you can’t change it, change your attitude.”

I hope the information in this series has been helpful for you.  I am so glad we are on this Journey together.  I don’t want to go through MY “change” alone….DO YOU??

PLEASE ask any questions you have, because you never know who you could be helping with your questions!!  I WANT to hear from you!!
